For a family night I thought it would be fun to put together our 72 hour kits! I had spent the previous couple of weeks getting items together. I found cheap backpacks at Ross. My husband has a big camping back pack so I put his items in the diaper box, then if we need to leave in a hurry we can just dump it in his big back pack. I had three gallon zip lock bags for each person. I put our names on them along with Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3. The boys had so much fun putting their food in the bags. They didn't quite get this was for emergency's only. They thought we were taking it camping with us:) There was extra room in the gallon bags so I put extra food in it. We probably have enough food and water for each person for about a week!

I think it is a good idea to have two lists on your fridge. 1.) The food items in your kit and when they expire. That way when they come close to expiring we can eat them and replace them with new items. 2.) A list of what else you need to grab and where it is located. This is good for if you are leaving your house in a hurry...you won't want to forget anything important! A few things on my list that I won't want to forget:
Sleeping bags/tent
Cash/credit cards
Legal Documents (birth certificates, passports, ect)
Legal Documents (birth certificates, passports, ect)
Camping stove/propane
